Hi everyone! I have received conditional offer for marketing postgraduate courses at the University of Birmingham and at Aston university. Also, I am waiting offer from Strathclyde… I am a bit confused as all these universities seem to have good marketing courses. I heard Birmingham is more prestigious but Aston has good contacts with industries and Strath has high teaching quality. Is that true? How would you rate these three universities for marketing? Thanks in advance

That’s a difficult choice. I would rate these 3 universities as all really good for marketing. It would be hard to say that any one is much better than the others which may not be the answer you were looking for. At Strathclyde have you applied for the MSc Marketing or MSc International Marketing?

Hi Cozzie, thanks for your reply. @ Strathclyde I applied for the MSc in Marketing, as the International Marketing programme requires a degree in business or marketing (which I don’t have).

Hey Alex, can I ask is there any big price difference between these 3 programmes?

  • Avatar Image dubiousapplicant said 2 years, 9 months ago:

Hi Debbie, there is some difference… Birmingham is 7800, Aston 8500 and Strathclyde 9000…Though for the latter I still have a chance for scholarship, while for the other two, I received offers after the deadline for scholarship application.
Do you guys know anything about the cities? I have a feeling that Glasgow is nicer and more lively than Birmingham, expecially for their music scene… Also, what about industries and employment market in both cities? Is there anything else I should be aware of e.g., high crime rates or biting recession that might affect one of these city?

    Hi Alex

Birmingham and Glasgow are both pretty lively cities. You are right Glasgow probably has a better music scene but the Birmingham one is pretty good also. Birmingham has better weather and its easy to visit lots of places as it is right in the middle of England. Glasgow is probably a cooler (as in style) place with great mountains not far away.

Strathclyde and Aston are both city universities, modern buildings close to the city centre. Birmingham is on a super-beautiful campus in the suburbs. If you picture yourself studying outdoors, under a tree then BU is for you.

As for the marketing courses you have summed it up. All 3 are excellent with their respective strengths. It is not possible to say one is better than the others, its down to individual tastes in terms of course structure.
